This piece was made for an exhibition titled "Séraphine" where we were tasked with creating a piece inspired by the life of French painter Séraphine Louis -- but not necessarily her own work.
She believed that she had a guardian angel looking over her and it turned out that her very employer, German artist Wilhelm Uhde, became her supporter. This painting depicts the two halves (French woman + German man) who combined forces to bring her work to the fore.
